nonsense. chaos. ferule

This is a little behind schedule, so the ill-conceived and poorly written nonsense of a week or so ago known as the travel ban has been mitigated, for now. Although tomorrow may bring new nonsense, with the 45th president possibly planning to issue another Executive Order on this matter. I suspect, while potentially better conceived, it will nevertheless be, as a result of his profound inability to express anything articulately, remain poorly and disgracefully written.

The chaos, sadly hasn’t abated it’s simply morphed into stepped up immigration raids, as well as the voter fraud conviction, and eight year sentence to state prison, in Texas, of a permanent resident from Mexico. Never mind that it seems clear the woman more than likely made a mistake and lacked intent. Others previously convicted of similar offenses, but with obvious intent, received probation.

This bedlam is ongoing, but for a moment I want to revisit the nonsense. I do think it’s a good idea to check out opinions that are opposite the ones I hold. Or, you know see what the enemy is up to, because in some cases that is exactly who they are.

To that end a couple of years ago, I think I was turned on to the the existence of a conservative site called Free Republic. I won’t direct link, but it is easy enough to find. Their main comment forum is open for everyone to read, but not comment because it is a bit of an echo chamber. For contentious issues I like to check in to see what the rank and file have to say. Quite a lot of ridiculousness.

Below, is a response on the thread concerning the 9th Circuit COA refusal to allow the travel ban to continue. I have copied and pasted without permission.

Certainly people are entitled to hyperbole in their own spaces, and Free Republic is unavowedly a conservative space. Sadly, browsing other posts and comments, the above might not actually be hyperbole. Apparently, some would like harm to come to their fellow citizens simply so the president can have his ill-conceived way. I would consider those characteristics of an enemy. Most of these posters are also registered voters.

As for what ferule has to do with anything, I may start using more, less commonly used words as jumping off points, and although I essentially believe in non-violence, people who hold the sentiments above could at the very least do with a hard ferule across the hand.
